Samsung is a familiar brand in the TV manufacturing industry and has a fine reputation for producing trustworthy TVs. Commercially, there is a battle in two top models that boast QLED technology: Samsung TU8000 vs RU8000!
Both TV sets are based on the same technology but do have some differences to be noted. In this blog, I’ll discuss the details of TU8000 and RU8000 to decide which one is better and why. So, don’t skip the part and start reading!
Samsung TU8000 – Review
This model is the front runner of Samsung’s QLED series 2023! It features a UHD crystal display with 4K resolution that delivers high-class picture quality. The crystal panel is based on layers that are sandwiched with backlight and provide colors to the TV.
This technology was incorporated in LCDs first and has further advanced in QLEDs. Moreover, the 4K resolution is excellent under this price tag; otherwise, the 8K resolution is the latest, available in OLED TVs only.
Furthermore, I like to appreciate the UHD Dimming feature of this TV set which brings a vibrant and exciting contrast ratio. The colors are also very sophisticated, which will double your screening experience. The technology used behind this vivid color display is called Pur-Color technology. I recommend this television for watching movies or TV shows because of its pleasing contrast and comprehensive display.
When it comes to the gaming experience, the Samsung TU8000 is a great option. While it may not be specifically designed for gaming, it can still deliver excellent performance for gamers. The TV supports HLG, HDR 10, and HDR 10 plus, making it ideal for HDR content. Additionally, it comes with a fast motion rate of 120 Hz, which can enhance your gaming activity and provide a smoother experience.
Whether you’re playing action-packed games or immersive RPGs, the Samsung TU8000 can keep up with the action. With its impressive visual quality and responsive performance, it can help you get fully immersed in your favorite games. And if you’re playing competitive games that require fast reflexes and precision movements, the TV’s fast motion rate can help you stay on top of the action.
The sound system is an important aspect to consider when purchasing a TV, and both the Samsung TU8000 and RU8000 models come with a dual-channel 20 watts speaker system. The Samsung TU8000 has an integrated Dolby Audio system that helps to control the playback sound and delivers rich sound quality. This TV set’s sound system is sufficient for most viewers, and you may not need to invest in an additional sound system.
The Samsung RU8000 model also has a dual-channel 20 watts sound system, and while it is a primary sound channel, it delivers precise and clear sound quality. If you desire a home theater system, you can connect your soundbar to complement the TV’s sound.
I didn’t experience a need for an additional sound system for this TV, but if you want more powerful and window-shaking sound, then you can connect your soundbar to it.
Connectivity and Control
When it comes to connectivity and control, the Samsung TU8000 and RU8000 both have similar features. Both TVs have wireless connectivity with 802.11ac support, which provides a stable internet connection. Additionally, both TVs have a user-friendly remote control, making it easy to navigate the TV’s functions.
Moreover, both models are compatible with popular voice control assistants such as Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Bixby. With these assistants, users can control the TV with their voice, making it a convenient option for those who want to keep their hands free.
The Smart Feature is an important aspect of modern TVs, and both the Samsung TU8000 and RU8000 come equipped with them. These features provide a range of options for viewers to access streaming services, apps, and other content directly on their TV screens.
The TU8000 comes with a “Smart Hub” that is sponsored by TIZEN, providing users with a range of entertainment content that they can access at any time. The smart TV can be controlled using Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, or Bixby, allowing for easy voice commands and personalized control.
Similarly, the RU8000 also has TIZEN smart programs installed and allows users to access their favorite shows, movies, and dramas with ease. The TV set comes with a one-hand remote that can easily regulate all the functions, and it can also be controlled using Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, or Bixby.
Samsung RU8000 – Review
The display of a TV refers to the screen and the technology used to display images and videos. In the case of the Samsung RU8000 and TU8000, both TVs have a display based on QLED technology, which provides a high-quality picture with vibrant colors and deep blacks.
The TU8000 features a UHD crystal display with 4K resolution that delivers high-class picture quality. The crystal panel is based on layers that are sandwiched with backlight and provide colors to the TV. This technology was incorporated in LCDs first and has further advanced in QLEDs.
On the other hand, the RU8000 features an ultra-slim array—edge lighting, which is beyond the average dimming. This technology is only available in premium Samsung models. Both TVs come with 4K resolution, combined with Samsung upscaling technology, which delivers excellent and crystal-clear picture quality and correct color dimensions.
It features a dynamic contrast enhancer that provides a vibrant brightness and dimness ratio. The color display is rich in this TV set which will compliment your favorite show.
I didn’t notice any difference in the resolution as both TVs come with 4K resolution, combined with Samsung upscaling technology. It delivers excellent and crystal-clear picture quality and with correct color dimensions.
Like the TU8000, this TV can also support HLG, HDR, and HDR 10 plus. Contrarily it has a 240 Hz motion rate which is unexpectedly great! However, the 49 inches set features a 120 Hz motion rate because of the size and price difference. I found this TV set better in gaming than the previously discussed model because of the double refresh rate. It will bring you a non-lagging gaming session!
Connectivity and Control
Again, it also features 802.11ac wireless connectivity that adds stability to your TV’s WIFI connection. Over that, it has a one-hand remote through which you can easily regulate all the functions. You can use Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, and Bixby for voice regulation, which is very compatible.

How do I calibrate my Samsung RU9000?
I suggest you pick the “Movie mode” because it is more accurate than other picture modes. It allows you to customize the display more. In the expert settings, please select zero brightness, 45 contrast, and zero sharpness.
What are the best settings for Samsung TV?
I’ve used a lot of different Samsung models, and in most cases, the 45 to 55 range works well. The contrast setting would simultaneously enhance the bright and dark areas, so please keep it between 80 or 85 for movies and 90 or 100 for other video content. The sharpness manual enhances the edges of a picture, so; please maintain it accordingly.
What is the best picture mode for a 4K TV?
If you have a 4K resolution TV, it will automatically convert the mode to HDR when you play a 4K content. Otherwise, you can switch modes from standard, cinema, or natural. In some sets, there are the following choices: warm, pro, etc. I always found the last ones more correct.
What is QLED technology, and how does it differ from OLED?
QLED technology is a type of display technology used in Samsung TVs. It stands for Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode and works by using quantum dots to produce a wider range of colors and brighter images. OLED, on the other hand, stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode and works by using organic materials to produce light. OLED displays tend to have better contrast and deeper blacks, while QLED displays offer brighter images and more accurate color reproduction.
Can I use my Samsung TV as a computer monitor?
Yes, you can use your Samsung TV as a computer monitor by connecting your computer to the TV using an HDMI cable. Most Samsung TVs also have a PC input that allows you to connect your computer directly to the TV. Once connected, you can use your TV as a second monitor or even as your primary display.
What is the difference between HDR10 and HDR10+?
HDR10 and HDR10+ are two different types of HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology used in Samsung TVs. HDR10 is the standard HDR format and uses a fixed set of metadata to provide an optimal viewing experience. HDR10+ is an enhanced version of HDR10 that uses dynamic metadata to adjust the picture on a scene-by-scene basis, providing a more accurate and immersive viewing experience.
How do I update the software on my Samsung TV?
To update the software on your Samsung TV, go to the Settings menu and select Support. From there, select Software Update and then select Update Now. If an update is available, your TV will download and install it automatically. You can also set your TV to automatically check for updates and install them as they become available.
What is the difference between a Smart TV and a regular TV?
A Smart TV is a type of TV that is connected to the internet and allows you to access a range of online content, such as streaming services and web browsing. It usually has built-in apps and a user-friendly interface for accessing this content. A regular TV, on the other hand, does not have internet connectivity or built-in apps and can only receive content from external sources, such as cable or satellite.
After using both Samsung QLED TVs, I conclude that the RU8000 is the winner because of its quicker motion rate, better visuals, and contrast.
It is an excellent TV for gaming, movies, shows, and more. However, both devices have almost the exact resolution, intelligent features, sound system, and control.
So you can also go for TU8000 if you’re pretty tight on budget!
